New York Studio School is committed to giving a significant education to the aspiring artist that can last a lifetime. The school’s aim is to reveal to the entering student appropriate questions about drawing, painting, and sculpture and to encourage them to work hard and think rigorously at all times, enabling them to construct an ethical and philosophical framework for their life’s work.
Programs and courses include:
Evening & Saturday
Evening and Saturday drawing, painting, and sculpture classes are offered in the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. Instructors are present at each class, and most classes use a life model. These programs are ideal for the beginner or continuing student who has daytime commitments. Fall classes begin the week of Sept 15.
The Marathons are intensive, all-day programs that run for two weeks at the beginning of each semester and during the Summer Session. Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture marathons are offered, both by full-time faculty and distinguished visiting artists, who are present for the entire session. Upcoming Marathons begin Sept 2–21.
Full-Time Certificate and MFA
The graduating Certificate or MFA student leaves the School with a developed understanding of the language of art; an enlarged imagination stirred by an established work ethic, with the passion and ambition to be an artist for years to come.
