There might be a relevant link on page three of the Google search.
Maybe Greece can pay off its debt by socializing the Deste Foundation. At the very least, the Joannou/Koons exhibit shows an "art world" far away from the world of most people, and not in the sense of sublime elevation, but in the sense of board rooms where deals are made to further enrich the rich few while everyone else is in financial panic. See Goldman Sach's complicity in covering up Greece's debt: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/01/business/global/01views.html

It doesn't go too in-depth but it does describe the facts (as far as I would know anyways) of his dealings.

Charlie Finch wrote a short description of Joannou’s business activities over the past few years on Artnet magazine <a

He is described as an "industrialist," but articles I've found are about his standing in the Culture Industry (admittedly my attention span doesn't stretch past page two of a Google search. In any case, terms like "class resentment" come up even in Schjejldahl's review, but he doesn't mention modern Greece's collapse, even when he notes that "the global tide of prosperity" has been receding.
Have you seen the show? Are you going to? C'mon don't these rich people speak to our experience?

Hrag, has anyone written about Dakis Joannou, and this show, in the context of Greece’s economic crisis?
