Just 2 Weekends Left to Catch Brooklyn in Montreal

by Kyle Chayka on November 9, 2012

Brooklyn has become a global byword for cool — every city is said to have its own “Brooklyn” district as a home for artistic creativity. But what cities do we actually have anything in common with? As it turns out, our hip neighbor to the north, Montreal.

Montreal Brooklyn is an ongoing festival that celebrates the commonalities and contrasts of the two cities. There’s an excellent sense of energy in this exchange — both cities have hugely dynamic art scenes, and bringing them together helps everyone escape the bubble of individual art scenes. With just two weekends to go, this is a must-see. If you’re stuck in Brooklyn, worry not: Canada is coming here from January 10 to February 2, 2013.

Here are some glimpses into Montreal’s side of the celebration. We’ll have extensive coverage of the festival all of next week, so stay tuned for more.
