From September 17–22, 2013, Berlin will attract the world’s attention once again as one of the most vibrant centers of contemporary art in the world with the second edition of Berlin Art Week.
With the art fairs abc art berlin contemporary and PREVIEW BERLIN ART FAIR and top notch exhibitions at renowned partner institutions such as Akademie der Künste, Berlinische Galerie, C/O Berlin, Deutsche Bank KunstHalle, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Nationalgalerie – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k.) and Neue Gesellschaft für Bildende Kunst (NGBK) e.V. Berlin Art Week will once again present an exciting and varied program.
In addition to the partners’ program, a jury – formed by artist Monica Bonvicini, art critic Claudia Wahjudi, and Kasper König, former director of Cologne’s Museum Ludwig – selected a number of independent art projects and off spaces to highlight the variety, creativity, and quality of Berlin as a cultural capital.
Another highlight of Berlin Art Week 2013 will be Painting Forever!, a cooperation of Berlinische Galerie, Deutsche Bank KunstHalle, KW Institute for Contemporary Art and Nationalgalerie – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, that explores contemporary painting in Berlin in a unique context showing work by a wide variety of artists.
Berlin Art Week 2013 will also include the awarding of the Preis der Nationalgalerie für junge Kunst and an award from the Senate Chancellery-Cultural Affairs for artistic projects and initiatives in the realm of fine art.
Berlin Art Week 2013 opens on September 17 with a grand Open Air event in Auguststrasse, Berlin-Mitte.
Again this year, a combi-ticket will be on offer for admission to all exhibition locations.
