  1. Uh-oh! I don’t know who Van der Rohe is either! I thought a skateboard and drum lessons were enough ! It’s not easy parenting an artist!

The hard thing about being a sympathetic art parent of a creative child: They tell you that the intricate weaving of masking & scotch tape over the television screen is an art installation that they’ve been working on all day. And so you negotiate a temporary installation timeline with them instead of getting mad and making them take the whole thing down immediately (while yelling about wasted tape, like your parents would have done), and you end up watching tv through an “art installation” for the next three days.
