This sweatshirt, listed today in a Christie’s online auction, was allegedly hand-painted by Jean-Michel Basquiat between 1979 and 1980. Though the starting bid is $8,000, this is no earl’s “acrylic on sweatshirt”: the safety-pinned garment looks like a prop from an OxiClean infomercial. To wit, per Christie’s: “The overall surface is slightly soiled, presumably due to the artist’s working method.”
