I’m a sucker for children’s reactions to art, and in this new video by the Tate a bunch of kids share their thoughts about artist Henri Matisse’s cut-paper works (gouaches découpés for the francophiles) at the London museum.
As one little girl puts it, in what seems like a somewhat creepy dialogue with the dead artist, “You’re doing fairly well for an old man, because my grandpa wouldn’t be able to do that.” Nicely put, kid.
Beautiful. Kids enjoy art, adults think about it…
