# Frieze Announces 160+ Galleries Taking Part in Inaugural NY Art Fair

The first New York iteration of the [Frieze art fair](http://www.friezeartfair.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com), which is slated to take place May 4–7, 2012, will touch down ib Randall’s Island Park at the intersection of Manhattan, The Bronx and Queens.

Frieze New York will be housed in a structure designed by Brooklyn-based SO-IL Architects. The design for the structure will be released in January. [SO-IL](http://so-il.org/?ref=hyperallergic.com) is best remembered in New York’s art world for their “[Pole Dance](https://hyperallergic.com/ps1-pole-dance/)” (2010) installation at PS1 last year.

Frieze New York will include participating galleries from 18 countries, including India, South Africa and the UAE. Their growing list\\ already has 160+ participating galleries in all the sections of the fair, including New York’s 303 Gallery, Hauser + Wirth, Bartolami, Mitchell-Innes & Nash, Lehmann Maupin, Mariane Goodman, Marianne Boesky, Sean Kelly, Sikkema Jenkins, Metro Picture, Cheim & Read, David Zwirner, Elizabeth Dee and dozens of others.

In terms of international galleries, the list includes London’s White Cube, Paris’s Yvon Lambert, Copenhagen’s Nicolai Wallner and Beijing’s Long March Space.

Frieze New York will also have a curatorial programme, Frieze Projects and Frieze Talks, which will both be curated by Cecilia Alemani.
