Miami Beach is calling and we’ll be there as always to add our insights and critical takes. This year, we’re excited to announce that we’ve teamed up with PULSE Miami Beach to present two exciting discussions as part of the PULSE PERSPECTIVES series.

Spectacle, Spectre, and Performance

Tuesday, December 1, 5pm
Big, brash, and eye-catching is the M.O. so much of art nowadays, but why is that and what does it say about our culture?

Moderated by Hyperallergic’s editor-in-chief Hrag Vartanian, in conversation with artists Kalup Linzy, Kate Durbin, Amir Baradaran, and independent curator Stacy Engman.

This conversation will be held during PULSE’s opening celebration from 4-7pm, which will also feature performances by Kate Durbin and Kalup Linzy, and an installation by Amir Baradaran.

Future Visions of Miami

Saturday, December 5, 5pm
The contemporary art establishment comes to Miami but do they “see” the city and what it has to offer? What are people missing?

Moderated by Hyperallergic’s editor-in-chief Hrag Vartanian, in conversation with Pérez Art Museum Miami Chief Curator Tobias Ostrander; independent curator Claire Breukel; and The Knight Foundation’s Director of Art Bahia Ramos.

Both talks will take place in the PERSPECTIVES Lounge and are free with fair admission.
Refreshments will be served before and after each panel.
