Greenpoint Open Studios Returns This Weekend with Over 300 Participating Artists

Brooklyn has a long-standing reputation for being a hotbed of creativity and Greenpoint Open Studios, happening this weekend (April 29–May 1), is going to represent its northernmost tip with more than 300 artists opening up their studios to the public. Visitors will get a glimpse of works-in-progress alongside finished work and will be able to engage directly with artists in their own workspaces.

The weekend festivities will kick off with a launch party on Friday (4/29, 8–11PM) at Java Studios (252 Java Street), home to over 200 artist studios as well as a gallery and outdoor event area. Here, the evening will feature performance art, live music, exhibitions, mural paintings, video art projections as well as a special visit from staff of Woodhull Hospital to give artists information on how to receive free healthcare. There will also be Hungarian wine by Palinkerie, craft beer by local brewery Greenpoint Beer & Ale, and chips by Kettle Brand. RSVP here!

Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1, over 300 Greenpoint artists will open up their doors and visitors will get an intimate look at work in a wide range of media including painting, sculpture, video art, textiles, photography, and more. It will be a rare opportunity to meet seasoned veterans of the art world as well as discover emerging artists. During this time there will also be special events and walking tours around the neighborhood. RSVP to stay updated on all the activities!

The weekend will wind down on Sunday (5/1, 6–8PM) at the beautiful French-Catalonian restaurant Cassette (113 Franklin Street), where there will be free food and a drink for participating artists. RSVP here
