The Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art’s curated retrospective Turn the Page celebrates the ten-year anniversary of the new contemporary art magazine Hi-Fructose, on view now through Dec. 31, 2016. This exclusive exhibition features 51 world-renowned artists such as Ray Caesar, Wim Delvoye, Audrey Kawasaki, Kris Kuksi, Travis Louie, Marion Peck, Jeff Soto, Gary Taxali, Erwin Wurm, and many others that have never been shown together in one place at one time. Accolades about Turn the Page have been numerous, along with the miles’ visitors are traveling to view this rare exhibition located in Virginia Beach.

Another unique aspect of this exhibition echo’s Virginia MOCA’s commitment to education. Seven of these renowned artists were invited to speak and work with the public at the museum throughout the exhibition. Artist talks and performances included Olek, Beth Cavener, Brian McCarty, Wayne White, Martin Whitfooth, and a Wet Paint Block Party that featured live painting and a master class with Greg “Craola” Simkins.

The artist series will conclude with Tara McPherson’s artist talk on Thursday, Dec. 8 followed by a sold-out master class on the 10th. McPherson uses portraiture to peek into the complexities of the human psyche through her otherworldly characters.
