Salad for President book spread (image courtesy Julia Sherman)

The brainchild of artist and cook Julia Sherman, Salad for President is a blog, event series, and now a book that draws connections between the worlds of art and food. As part of this endeavour, she has previously organized salad gardens at MoMA PS1 in New York and the Getty Center in Los Angeles.

To celebrate the release of her book filled with recipes and conversations with artists, musicians, and writers, Night Gallery is hosting a book launch with a DJ set by artist Awol Erizku, pizza from urbn, Golden Road beer, and alcoholic snow cones by Mad Capra. An Art Tag Sale will also be taking place with all work priced at $50 or less, and a portion of the proceeds going to the East Los Angeles Women’s Center. Participating artists include Josh Callaghan, Andrea Marie Breiling, Paul Pescador, Adrian Paules, Sarah Rara, and others.

When: Saturday, June 3, 4–8pm
Where: Night Gallery (2276 East 16th Street, Downtown, Los Angeles)
