Christie’s Education is pleased to announce that it will be holding its first global virtual conference, The Chinese Art Market, on November 26–27, 2020.

This conference will be the third in our International Art & the Market Series, which launched in 2016 in London with Creating Markets, Collecting Art, followed in 2018 in New York by Celebrating Female Agency in the Arts.

The conference will explore the global impact of the Chinese art ecosystem from both historical and current perspectives. Over two days, there will be 13 sessions from a range of disciplines that will address issues of cultural exchange, artistic cross-fertilization and appropriation, the circulation of works of art, collecting networks and the economics of taste and value, as well as today’s art market.

Session topics include:

  • Hong Kong as a Global Art Hub
  • Chinese Auctions and Art Market Innovations
  • Art + Tech in Asia: Tech Disruption and Opportunities
  • The Digital Turn in Chinese Contemporary Art
  • Women in the Art World
  • The Western Demand for Chinese Works of Art
  • Art of the Cultural Revolution
  • Plus more

The conference will run on Thursday, November 26, and Friday, November 27 from 9:30am–5:30pm (GMT). The conference will be bilingual in English and Mandarin with translation provided.
