# A Dancer Moves and Morphs the Art at the Main Museum

Los Angeles-based choreographer and dancer Mecca Vazie Andrews founded her company [the MOVEMENT movement](http://meccavazieandrews.tumblr.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com) in 2007 with the goal of exploring alternative modes of performance that engage with local communities and social issues. She has collaborated with a diverse group of artists and organizations including Daft Punk, the Joffrey Ballet School, and LA Contemporary Dance Company, and performed at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the Hammer Museum, REDCAT, and venues throughout LA.

This Sunday, in her “[Title X V. 1″](http://www.themainmuseum.org/program/performance-mecca-vazie-andrews-title-x-v-1?ref=hyperallergic.com) performance, she will respond to the two exhibitions currently on view at the Main Museum: [Alice Könitz’s *Circle and Triangle Chairs*](http://www.themainmuseum.org/exhibition/circle-chairs-triangle-chairs?ref=hyperallergic.com) and photographic portraits from East and South LA by [Star Montana](http://www.themainmuseum.org/exhibition/star-montana-i-dream-of-los-angeles?ref=hyperallergic.com). This will involve Vazie Andrews reconfiguring Könitz’s modular furniture, and projecting images onto Montana’s photographs, adding another voice to the conversation between the two bodies of work.
