# A Documentary Shows Rare Footage of 1950s Chinese American Life

This Thursday at the [Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA)](https://www.mocanyc.org/visit/events/mocatalks%5Fforever%5Fchinatown%5Fa%5Fforgotten%5Ffilm%5Fwith%5Fdanielle%5Fseid?ref=hyperallergic.com), Danielle Seid, assistant professor of English at Baruch College, CUNY, will introduce and discuss *Forever Chinatown* (1960), the documentary film produced and directed by her grandparents. Seid will present her research on the film’s “intersections with Hollywood and the Hong Kong New Wave,” according to MOCA’s website.

At the event, Seid will screen clips form the film featuring rare footage of New York City’s Chinatown neighborhood and 1950s Chinese American life. Seid is currently working on a book exploring the forgotten histories of Asian American women on US network television.
