- Description: Joyce Kozloff becomes the first public member of the feminist collective. Also: Why is an AI company stamping its name onto an art school?

Four decades ago, the Guerrilla Girls changed the museum landscape for good. The collective has fought against sexism and racism in the art world ever since, all while keeping their identities anonymous — until now. Staff Writer Rhea Nayyar reports on artist Joyce Kozloff’s decision to reveal her role as a founding Guerrilla Girl last week.

Also in the news, a MAGA-friendly artist’s sculpture of Thomas Jefferson is the latest addition to the Rose Garden, part of Trump’s plan to restructure the White House grounds. Further down the rabbit hole of technocracy, AI company Nvidia has stamped its CEO’s name onto the next iteration of San Francisco’s California College of the Arts, which will reopen as a satellite campus of Vanderbilt University.

Elsewhere in the Bay Area, another vision of art and political engagement blooms in the work of Emory Douglas, former Black Panther Party culture minister. Critic Max Blue visits the 83-year-old artist’s survey exhibition for a bracing reminder that art can be a portal to a better world.

Artist and activist Joyce Kozloff has taken off the mask after 41 years, disclosing in a new interview with *Art Journal Open* that she was among the founding members of the Guerrilla Girls.

She also revealed that “Liubov Popova” was her assigned pseudonym within the collective, whose members took the names of late women artists to maintain their own anonymity. In 2016, she published a (sneaky) biographical essay in *Hyperallergic* that both examined and lauded the Russian artist’s creative evolution and career milestones throughout her unfortunately short life. | Rhea Nayyar
