# A Series at the Hirshhorn and Newseum Focuses on Art & Free Speech

To mark the exhibition [*Ai Weiwei: Trace*](http://s.si.edu/2kN5YIr?ref=hyperallergic.com), the Hirshhorn and the Newseum in Washington D.C. have partnered to present a series of talks that consider the role of art and free speech in the 21st century. The lineup includes an array of acclaimed artists, journalists, activists, and academics.

Wan, who has met and interviewed Ai Weiwei, will discuss the impact of Ai’s art on the world and will discuss human rights conditions in China as well as the impact of Communist Party policies on the people in that country.
