# Another Senseless Artist/Cyclist Death in North Brooklyn

On Wednesday morning, 30-year-old artist and rising star Mathieu Lefevre was [killed in a hit-and-run on Morgan Avenue](http://www.brooklynpaper.com/stories/34/43/web%5Fbikestruck%5F2011%5F10%5F28%5Fbk.html?ref=hyperallergic.com) in Williamsburg. His death is the fourth cycling fatality in Williamsburg in the past four months.

Last month, another Williamsburg-based artist, 24-year-old Nicolas Djandji, [was killed](http://www.thelmagazine.com/TheMeasure/archives/2011/09/06/24-year-old-brooklyn-artist-killed-while-cycling-in-williamsburg?ref=hyperallergic.com) riding his bicycle eastbound on Borinquen Place and turning north onto Rodney Street.

These incidents emphasize the need for more dedicated bike lanes in north Brooklyn, which is home to a large concentration of cyclists, many of whom are part of the area’s robust creative community.
