Maria Seferian, a partner in the Munger, Tolles & Olson law firm as well as counsel to the museum,[**was named the interim director of LA MOCA**](http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/arts/culture/la-et-cm-moca-interim-director-20131121,0,2284391.story?track=rss&ref=hyperallergic.com#axzz2lK0OFxZw).

Debbie Landau, founding president of the Madison Square Park Conservancy,[**is stepping down after 12 years**](http://galleristny.com/2013/11/madison-square-park-conservancy-president-departing/?ref=hyperallergic.com), during which time she spearheaded the Mad. Sq. Art public art program.

Victims of the [**Knoedler gallery Abstract Expressionist fakes scandal**](http://www.theartnewspaper.com/articles/More-victims-of-Abstract-Expressionist-fakes-scandal-revealed/31061?ref=hyperallergic.com) include several leading collectors, dealers, and two or more museums, the *Art Newspaper* reported.

The United Negro College Fund and the Association of Art Museum Directors announced a partnership that will place black college students in art museum internships [**in an effort to improve diversity in the field**](https://aamd.org/for-the-media/press-release/uncf-and-association-of-art-museum-directors-announce-partnership-to?ref=hyperallergic.com).

The Museum of Modern Art in Kamakura, the first Japanese modern art museum to be publicly run, [**will close by the end of 2016 and be demolished**](http://the-japan-news.com/news/article/0000809274?ref=hyperallergic.com).

The[**Heidelberg Project in Detroit lost a second house to suspected arson**](http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20131121/METRO01/311210068?ref=hyperallergic.com) in as many weeks, bringing their seven art houses down to four after another fire earlier this year.

The [**Tate Britain renovation has been completed**](http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/11/18/tate-britain-completes-renovation/?smid=tw-share&ref=hyperallergic.com) at a cost of $72 million, and the museum is opening its refurbished galleries to the public.

The San Diego Natural History Museum [**pulled its fossils from a long-planned auction**](http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2013/nov/18/natural-history-museum-backs-off-fossil-auction/?Watchdog&ref=hyperallergic.com) following criticism from scientists and others who were concerned that the sale would take them out of research availability, *U-T San Diego* reported.

National Medal of Arts awardee Bobbie Handman, who was an advocate for preservation, particularly for theaters in New York, [**passed away**](http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/15/nyregion/bobbie-handman-a-medal-of-arts-winner-dies-at-85.html?smid=tw-nytimesobituary&seid=auto&%5Fr=1&&ref=hyperallergic.com).

Both Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg [**donated $10 million to the campaign to build the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures**](http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/arts/culture/la-et-cm-steven-spielberg-jeffrey-katzenberg-film-museum-donations-20131119,0,3941368.story?ref=hyperallergic.com#axzz2lK0OFxZw) in Los Angeles.

The [**freshly restored catacombs frescoes at the Vatican**](http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/nov/20/vatican-unveils-frescoes-restored-female-priests-catacomb?ref=hyperallergic.com) have been revealed, and some say they appear to show female priests, the *Guardian* reported.

Following a design competition, BIG architects were selected[**to design the new Museum of the Human Body**](http://www.archdaily.com/450388/big-selected-to-design-human-body-museum-in-france/?ref=hyperallergic.com) in Montpellier, France.

BIG is also one of the architecture teams on the shortlist [**to redesign the area surrounding the Natural History Museum**](http://www.architectsjournal.co.uk/news/revealed-shortlist-announced-in-natural-history-museum-contest/8655789.article?ref=hyperallergic.com) in London.

The [**National Gallery of Art has acquired “The Concert” by Gerrit van Honthorst**](http://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/national-gallery-acquires-the-concert-by-dutch-golden-age-painter-honthorst/2013/11/21/48d2e04e-52dd-11e3-9fe0-fd2ca728e67c%5Fstory.html?ref=hyperallergic.com), a 1623 painting that hasn’t been on public view since 1795, the *Washington Post* reported.

The art collection of Valerie Eliot, the widow of writer T.S. Eliot,[**was auctioned at Christie’s in London for about $12.9 million**](http://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2013/nov/20/ts-eliot-widow-valerie-art-collection-auction?ref=hyperallergic.com). The art had been purchased with royalties made from the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical *Cats*, whose lyrics were based on an Eliot book of poems.

At the recent Latin American art auction at Christie’s, the Cleveland Museum of Art [**sold paintings by Rufino Tamayo and Roberto Matta for a total of $1.5 million**](http://www.cleveland.com/arts/index.ssf/2013/11/cleveland%5Fmuseum%5Fof%5Fart%5Fnets%5Fm.html?ref=hyperallergic.com), the proceeds of which will go to art acquisitions.

The DeVos Institute of Arts Management, currently at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, [**is relocating to the University of Maryland**](http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/11/20/devos-institute-of-arts-management-to-relocate-to-the-university-of-maryland/?smid=nytimesarts&ref=hyperallergic.com).

An ornament featuring [**a painting of a cardinal by former president George W.
