# Art Rx: New Year's Edition

We’re going to keep this week’s edition of Art RX short and sweet (and link filled) because there doesn’t appear to be tons of art-related New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Here is what we might suggest for New York-based revelers.

**Sandra Bernhard** is doing a series of [New Years Eve-themed shows](http://www.blackbookmag.com/art/sandra-bernhard-celebrates-new-year-s-eve-in-new-york-1.43464?ref=hyperallergic.com) at [Joe’s Pub](http://joespub.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com), so if you want to end the year on a darkly hilarious note this is your pick. (tickets start at $85)

 How about ending the year on a peaceful note? St. John the Divine’s annual [**Concert for Peace**](http://www.nyc-arts.org/events/16984/new-year-s-eve-concert-for-peace?ref=hyperallergic.com) is a good bet. This 90-minute affair is a grab bag of music, readings and meditations. (general admission is free but reserved seats are $60)

 Maybe you’re more of a dance fan? Then how about checking out **Alvin Ailey**? Highlights include *Home*, a new work by hip-hop choreographer Rennie Harris, and Ohad Naharin’s *Minus 16*. You can check this out and go out for a drink later. (tickets start at $25)

 Want to dress up? DUMBO’s Galapagos Art Space is throwing a [**1920s Paris cabaret**](http://galapagosartspace.com/event/new-years-eve-a-1920s-paris?ref=hyperallergic.com). This party with will feature burlesque, trapeze artists, cabaret singers, performance artists and acrobats. (tickets are $150)

 Want to ring in 2012 with fireworks? Your best bet is Brooklyn’s [**Grand Army Plaza’s firework display**](http://www.prospectpark.org/calendar/event/1471647?ref=hyperallergic.com), which starts at 11pm. (free)

 Is none of this queer enough for you? Well, how about drag queen [**Hedda Lettuce’s Xanadu sing-a-long**](http://newyork.timeout.com/things-to-do/this-week-in-new-york/2263915/hedda-lettuce%E2%80%99s-xanadu-sing-along?ref=hyperallergic.com) in Chelsea. The green queen will narrate (or something) the screening of camp classic *Xanadu,* starring Olivia Newton-John. The film will be followed by the live Times Square countdown on the big screen and a champagne toast. (tickets are $25)
