“A friend and former undergraduate student of the college first introduced me to the [Massachusetts College of Art and Design](http://bit.ly/2ir1s1f?ref=hyperallergic.com) by giving me a tour of all the 3D facilities I would have access to, which is truly a land of endless possibilities.

The [MFA program](http://bit.ly/2ir1s1f?ref=hyperallergic.com) is structured in a way that encourages cross-disciplinary discussion. Weekly seminars and critiques present opportunities to receive feedback and pose questions to faculty and students outside of the 3D department. For me, this is one of the most valuable aspects of MassArt because it provides an avenue to familiarize myself with the work of the first year graduates.

In my thesis work, I strive to challenge the boundaries of industrial materials while exploring their gestural and organic possibilities. Aesthetically, I rely on our desires for beauty and poetics to invite the viewer into a space of speculation. The MassArt wood and metal shops have an open-air layout, vast library of tools and machinery, presenting students with the means to dream big. Various teaching assistantships and work-study positions give me the chance to work side-by-side with faculty and undergraduate students. I am currently in my second year, working amidst a supportive cohort as I begin to plan out and execute my sculptures for the final thesis exhibition in April.”
