The brainchild of artist and cook Julia Sherman, [*Salad for President*](http://www.saladforpresident.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com) is a blog, event series, and now a [book](http://www.saladforpresident.com/the-book/?ref=hyperallergic.com) that draws connections between the worlds of art and food. As part of this endeavour, she has previously organized salad gardens at [MoMA PS1](http://www.saladforpresident.com/blog/moma-ps1-rooftop-salad-party/?ref=hyperallergic.com) in New York and the [Getty Center](http://blogs.getty.edu/iris/a-salad-garden-grows-at-the-getty-an-interview-with-julia-sherman-of-salad-for-president/?ref=hyperallergic.com) in Los Angeles.

To celebrate the release of her book filled with recipes and conversations with artists, musicians, and writers, Night Gallery is hosting a [book launch](http://nightgallery.ca/event.php?id=221&ref=hyperallergic.com) with a DJ set by artist [Awol Erizku](http://www.awolerizku.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com), pizza from [urbn](http://www.urbnpizza.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com), [Golden Road](http://goldenroad.la/?ref=hyperallergic.com) beer, and alcoholic snow cones by [Mad Capra](http://www.madcapra.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com). An Art Tag Sale will also be taking place with all work priced at $50 or less, and a portion of the proceeds going to the [East Los Angeles Women’s Center](http://elawc.org/?ref=hyperallergic.com). Participating artists include Josh Callaghan, Andrea Marie Breiling, Paul Pescador, Adrian Paules, Sarah Rara, and others.
