For its 13th edition, *Beat Nite* sets its sights on a different part of Brooklyn, highlighting the artistic community of Gowanus. *Beat Nite* is the neighborhood-wide, late-night gallery hop recognized for putting Bushwick on the map. Join the throngs of art ponies who will ride out to discover the thriving art scene in Gowanus through a self-guided tour featuring 10 galleries and alternative art spaces. [*Beat Nite Gowanus*](http://nortemaar.org/projects/beat-nite-gowanus/?ref=hyperallergic.com) will be held on Friday, October 16, from 6 to 10pm, and is presented in collaboration with [Arts Gowanus](http://artsgowanus.org/?ref=hyperallergic.com). This event is held in anticipation of [Gowanus Open Studios](http://artsgowanus.org/?ref=hyperallergic.com) (Saturday, October 17, and Sunday, October 18). The event grew into a biannual occurrence offering a neighborhood-wide event that many have labeled “half art stroll, half bar crawl.” With over 50 galleries and alternative spaces now in Bushwick and Ridgewood, a special guest curator was invited to select just 10 spaces from the community’s many great offerings beginning in 2012\. In the fall of 2015, Norte Maar launched a new initiative with the *Beat Nite* program to feature other emerging artistic communities in Brooklyn and beyond.
