# An Art Walk in the Alleyways of Old Pasadena

Old Pasadena is one of the more charming historic centers of the greater Los Angeles area, and was once a thriving business center. It is also home to one of the oldest museums in the country, the Pasadena Museum of Modern Art (today the [Norton Simon Museum](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norton%5FSimon%5FMuseum?ref=hyperallergic.com)), and, mostly recently, it has had a [growing public art program](http://cityofpasadena.net/arts/Public%5FArt%5FProgram/?ref=hyperallergic.com). All these factors make Old Pasadena a great setting for the outdoor art event, [BoldPas](https://www.oldpasadena.org/visit/events/signature-events/boldpas/?ref=hyperallergic.com), which is now in its second year.

Taking place this Saturday, May 12, BoldPas encourages visitors to experience this car-ridden city by foot. There will be two walking tours (one at 12:30pm, the other at 3pm) to help guide visitors through the historic alleyways that will be populated with art. This year, artists were invited to make “bold” work; expect patterned or furry works by [Maxwell Coppola](http://www.maxwellcoppola.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com), [playful puppets](http://www.flower-pepper.com/product-tag/amy-van-gilder/?ref=hyperallergic.com) by Amy Van Gilder, and large, geometric sculptures by [Robyn Sanford](https://www.robynsanford.com/artworks?ref=hyperallergic.com). In addition to 13 temporary installations, there will also be live painters capturing their surroundings and a large display window by five different artists at the local [Flower Pepper Gallery](https://www.flower-pepper.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com).
