# A Zine and Small Press Fair for Book Artists of Color

There’s no [shortage](https://hyperallergic.com/tag/new-york-art-book-fair/) of [fairs](https://hyperallergic.com/brooklyn-book-fair-endless-editions/) for artists’ books and zines [these days](https://hyperallergic.com/los-angeless-art-book-zine-fair-scene-booming-heres-shortlist/), but there’s still a need for occasions to showcase the diversity of creative self-publishers and small presses. The [Brown Paper Zine & Small Press Fair](http://www.3dotzine.com/brown-paper-zine-fair/?ref=hyperallergic.com), whose second annual iteration takes place at Barnard this weekend, in partnership with the [Studio Museum in Harlem](https://studiomuseum.org/event/brown-paper-zine-and-small-press-fair/1530374400?ref=hyperallergic.com), is one such occasion, highlighting the work of black artists and artists of color.

The 2017 Brown Paper Zine & Small Press Fair

Founded by artist Devin N. Morris and organized by [3 Dot Zine](http://www.3dotzine.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com), the fair’s 2018 edition boasts 23 exhibitors ranging from individual artists to indie publishing outfits like [Homie House Press](https://www.facebook.com/homiehousepress/) and [Endless Editions](http://www.endlesseditions.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com), Baltimore’s [Waller Gallery](https://www.wallergallery.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com), and zines like [La Liga Zine](http://www.laligazine.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com) and [Townies](https://townieszine.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com). In addition to paper-based printed objects, the participants will be offering clothes, accessories, artworks, and more. And for those who like to whet their acquisitive appetites with some music and dancing, the Langston Hughes House will host [an official launch party on Friday night](https://studiomuseum.org/event/brown-paper-zine-and-small-press-fair-launch/1530313200?ref=hyperallergic.com), before the fair gets underway on Saturday.

**When:** June 29, 7–10pm (launch party), June 30 and July 1, 12–6pm (fair)  
**Where:** launch party at the Langston Hughes House (20 East 127 Street, Harlem, Manhattan); fair at the James Room at Barnard Hall (3009 Broadway, Upper West Side, Manhattan)
