# “Doyle Lane: Master of Clay” Now on View at The Huntington

More than 100 works and archival documents trace Doyle Lane’s evolution from functional pottery to monumental murals that transformed ceramics into abstract, light-filled constructions. 

Featuring intimate vessels, iconic “weed pots,” “clay paintings,” jewelry, beads, and large-scale architectural commissions, “Doyle Lane: Master of Clay” offers the most expansive presentation of Lane’s practice to date. The exhibition situates him within midcentury California modernism and the Southern California studio ceramics movement while examining the barriers he faced as a Black artist. 

On view through March 1, 2027, at The Huntington.
