If, like me, you’d rather *avoid* opening nights and gallery hops around Chelsea, you might gloss over [Greenpoint Gallery Night](http://www.greenpointgalleries.org/?ref=hyperallergic.com). But that would be a mistake, since art-seeing in Greenpoint is a whole different animal. For starters, there are fewer galleries and less people (this is a good thing). The organizers, who have been putting on this biannual event since 2013, also outline your route for you: this spring, there are 11 participating art spaces extending their hours late, with several launching exhibitions for the occasion.

Some highlights this Friday, April 28, include [Sal Muñoz’s “temple to social justice” at Auxiliary Projects](http://www.auxiliaryprojects.com/current-exhibit/?ref=hyperallergic.com), which will be filled with Mexican votive imagery; [Alison Owen’s installation at Greenpoint Hill](http://greenpointhill.com/exhibitions/?ref=hyperallergic.com), where she’s accumulated scraps and found materials from her studio; and paintings by [James Ulmer at Greenpoint Terminal Gallery](http://greenpointterminalgallery.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com) depicting body builders and other manly men in not-so-manly ways.

**When:** Friday, April 28, 6–9pm
**Where:** Locations throughout Greenpoint, Brooklyn
