# Artist Faith Ringgold Will Discuss Her Six-Decade Career

This [Thursday](https://www.brooklynmuseum.org/calendar/event/brooklyn%5Ftalks%5Ffaith%5Fringgold%5Fseptember%5F2018?ref=hyperallergic.com), as part of the programming for [*Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power*](https://www.brooklynmuseum.org/exhibitions/soul%5Fof%5Fa%5Fnation?ref=hyperallergic.com), the Brooklyn Museum will present a talk by artist [Faith Ringgold](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faith%5FRinggold?ref=hyperallergic.com) as she “discusses her work as an artist, activist, author, teacher, and parent from the 1960s to the present day.” Also speaking is Ringgold’s daughter, Michele Wallace.

Born in Harlem in 1930, Ringgold has become a legend in the art world, with a career beginning in the early 1960s. Her practice includes painting, sculpture, quilt-making, writing, and performance. Be sure to join Ringgold on Thursday to hear firsthand accounts of the Civil Rights Movement and see an illustrated lecture that includes her evolution as an artist.
