If you need a palate cleanser from some of the more commercial exhibitors at Art Basel Miami Beach 2011, then be sure to check out the always refreshing [Fountain Art Fair.](http://www.fountainartfair.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com)

Fountain sets itself apart again this year with a rebellious mix of alternative gallery spaces, independent artists, musical performances and the “self-proclaimed sexiest food truck,” [Ms. Cheezious](http://mscheezious.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com), which will be parked outside the fair all weekend. Hyperallergic is so there, and you should be too.

For the sixth edition of their Miami fair, Fountain returns to the 25th Street/North Miami warehouse (2505 North Miami Avenue). Part of what makes Fountain such a treat for fair-goers is their weekend-long program of contemporary performance art curated by Bushwick’s [Grace Exhibition Space.](http://www.grace-exhibition-space.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com) This year’s program brings several new artists to the scene, including Hector Canonge (NY), Chloe Bass and Hiroshi Shafer (NY/ Japan), Megan Van Alstyne (NY), Anya Liftig (NY), Nyugen Smith (NJ) and Rebecca Jampol (NJ).

Other events you won’t want to miss include artists [Hans Haveron](http://www.haveronstudios.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com) and [Carlito Dalceggio](http://www.carlitodalceggio.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com) live-painting the [Fish Tank](Artists%20Hans%20Haveron%20and%20Carlito%20Dalceggio%20will%20be%20live-painting%20this%20amorphized%20military%20assault%20vehicle%20during%20the%20fair.%20), a military assault-cum-art vehicle that made its debut at least year’s fair. The legendary Fountain street art wall will also be in full swing with 150 feet of work by 15 street artists and curated by Samson Contompasis, director of Albany’s [The Marketplace](http://www.fountainartfair.com/index.php/exhibitors-2/marketplace/?ref=hyperallergic.com).

Fountain Art Fair kicks off Friday night with an opening reception brought to you by [Artlog](http://www.artlog.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com) that features NYC-based DJ [NSR](http://www.facebook.com/pages/NSR/89369248534), [Ninjasonik](http://ninjasonikmusic.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com) and pioneering hip-hop cultural legend [Fab 5 Freddy](http://fab5freddy.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com).
