Yes, the gallery is diversifying its presence by establishing a small bar in the burgeoning area of the Lower East Side. How the Woodwards scored on liquor license in the neighborhood may be a mini-miracle but it’s a smart move and seems to be a natural fit for the gallery business.

The name of the bar comes from the fact that when the Woodwards took photos of the interior for the first time there appeared to be apparitions in the images. “We wondered if this place was haunted,” owner Kristine Woodward says.

Ghost officially opened on March 3 and visitors can enjoy street art combos on the walls while they do tequila shots or sip coffee. And soon, Woodward hopes, they’ll also offer small bites to customers.

At least visitors to the gallery will have an easy option when figuring out where to go for a drink after seeing the exhibition across the street.
