Thought that James Franco’s [apparent recent breakup with art BFF Kalup Linzy](http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/04/fashion/performance-artist-kalup-linzy-and-the-art-of-being-a-character.html?%5Fr=1&ref=hyperallergic.com) meant that you wouldn’t be seeing quite as much of his [grinning disembodied mug](https://hyperallergic.com/spot-kalup-linzys-new-musical-vagina/) around as you have been during the last two years or so? Guess again! Franco appeared on Jimmy Kimmel last week to engage in a bit of [lighthearted homoerotic banter](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIdkwjjYiMg&feature=player%5Fdetailpage&ref=hyperallergic.com#t=75s) and talk about his involvement with the [Non-Visible Museum](http://www.nonvisiblemuseum.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com) project, explaining to millions of late night TV viewers that yes, people actually *do* pay occasionally large amounts of money for works of art they can’t see.

At least he managed to get the word “[Fluxus](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluxus?ref=hyperallergic.com)” into the conversation and did his best to convince an obstinately uncomprehending Kimmel that [a bunch of other artists](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conceptual%5Fart?ref=hyperallergic.com) have been doing this sort of thing for over half a century already, though he didn’t have time to go into any sort of detail about the [history of conceptual art](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conceptual%5Fart?ref=hyperallergic.com). Besides, why let all that boring art history get in the way of plugging a [Kickstarter project](http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/praxis/museum-of-non-visible-art-praxis-and-james-franco?ref=live)? (Oh, and apparently he’s in [some new movie](http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/news/2011-08-07-box-office-Aug-8%5Fn.htm?ref=hyperallergic.com) too.)
