“Trendy” Republican art fans, mark your calendars: according to a 112-page internal [document](http://www.documentcloud.org/documents/2490797-jeb.html?ref=hyperallergic.com#document/p112) recently [leaked](http://www.usnews.com/news/blogs/run-2016/2015/10/29/jeb-bushs-campaign-blueprint?ref=hyperallergic.com) from the Jeb Bush campaign, the Florida governor and Presidential hopeful is planning a pop art–themed fundraising event at Art Basel Miami Beach (ABMB).

Per [US News and World Report](http://www.usnews.com/news/blogs/run-2016/2015/10/29/jeb-bushs-campaign-blueprint?ref=hyperallergic.com), which obtained the document, the campaign’s “fourth-quarter fundraising rollout \[is\] scheduled for Dec. 5 at the trendy Art Basel in Miami. The event is called, ‘Pop Art, Politics & Jeb.’”

The announcement is illustrated with an awkward “pop” portrait of Jeb himself, a bit like a high schooler’s take on Shepard Fairey’s famed [Obama poster](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack%5FObama%5F%22Hope%22%5Fposter?ref=hyperallergic.com). It remains to be seen what exactly the “Pop Art, Politics & Jeb” event will entail — debuts of paintings by Jeb’s [Renaissance man painter brother](http://hyperallergic.com/64837/do-bushs-paintings-tell-us-anything-about-the-former-president)? — or why this conservative dynasty son thinks referencing a mid-century art movement known for its [dissenting worldview](http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/art/features/the-world-goes-pop-at-tate-modern-how-pop-art-was-used-as-dissent-10500590.html?ref=hyperallergic.com) and wry commentary on American mass culture will boost his standing. Maybe he’s taking a cue from Trump and banking on Jeb! hats [becoming an ironic accessory](http://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/13/fashion/trumps-campaign-hat-becomes-an-ironic-summer-accessory.html?%5Fr=0&ref=hyperallergic.com) among the ABMB set.
