**About Bard MFA**
Founded in 1981 as the first of its kind, the [Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts](https://bit.ly/49xVAsn?ref=hyperallergic.com) low-residency MFA brings together students and faculty in six disciplines: painting, film/video, sculpture, photography, music/sound, and writing for a unique interdisciplinary summer program. Students are immersed in a diverse community of artists for three eight-week summer sessions interspersed with winter independent study. Summer sessions take place on the Bard College campus, two hours north of New York City on the banks of the Hudson River.

Each summer, [Bard MFA](https://bit.ly/49xVAsn?ref=hyperallergic.com) welcomes a faculty of over 30 accomplished artists to engage in critiques, seminars, caucuses, and individual conferences with our students. They are joined by visiting artists representing all six disciplines.

[Applications are due January 10, 2024](https://bit.ly/3QHuG8P?ref=hyperallergic.com).
