In October, we reported on the death of Brooklyn artist [Mathieu Lefevre](http://hyperallergic.com/tag/mathieu-lefevre/), who was cycling in the East Williamsburg industrial park when he was struck and killed.

Now, according to [Gothamist](http://gothamist.com/2011/12/19/lost%5Fevidence%5Fsloppy%5Finvestigation.php?ref=hyperallergic.com), an attorney representing the family of killed cyclist and artist has sent a scathing letter to the NYPD’s Accident Investigation Squad, blasting the department’s handling of the investigation. The letter alleges glaring holes in an investigation that seemed designed from the outset to blame the cyclist and take the driver’s claims at face value.
