Applications are open for the [Future Art Writers Award](https://bit.ly/3GZ8uQz?ref=hyperallergic.com) offered by the national arts foundation [MOZAIK Philanthropy](https://bit.ly/3rWSbiQ?ref=hyperallergic.com). US art writers of all ages and professional backgrounds have until March 15, 2022, to submit an abstract for an essay, review, or feature on the virtual exhibition *Ecosystem X*, which features work by the winners of MOZAIK’s Future Art Awards. Proposals should focus on the art on view and the theme of this award cycle: an arts-based reimagining of life on Earth.

[*Ecosystem X*](https://bit.ly/3JzmH8n?ref=hyperallergic.com) aims to reimagine the symbiotic interrelationship between humanity and the Earth, illustrating that art holds the power to remap and re-code our collective trajectory around polemics like climate, human rights, and democracy. The works of 40 US artists are now on view in a curated, circular, carbon-neutral exhibition.

Up to six $2,000 grants will be issued to writers who demonstrate an original and compelling point of view, to be published in the second edition of the [MOZAIK E-ZINE](https://bit.ly/33ssuNE?ref=hyperallergic.com).

Proposals can address general and specialized art audiences. Writers working on experimental or otherwise non-traditional arts writing are also invited to apply. BIPOC and other historically marginalized or underserved art writers are especially encouraged to submit.

**Submission Criteria**

- 250 word abstract of the proposed essay on the virtual exhibition
- Short bio of no more than 500 words
- Writing sample of no more than 5 pages

Grants will be awarded upon receipt of the text, which will undergo editorial review.
