If you haven’t heard of the Short Hills Mall, or formally [The Mall at Short Hills](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The%5FMall%5Fat%5FShort%5FHills?ref=hyperallergic.com), then you probably don’t know that this is a regional hub for ladies who lunch and high-end baubles that will impress any hedge fund billionaire’s spouse or reality TV star.

Enter Manhattan’s Museum of Arts and Design’s retail arm, which has crossed the Hudson to pitch their tent between Saks Fifth Avenue and Cole Haan on Short Hills mall’s second floor.

The shop is focusing on contemporary Turkish handcrafts this season and they’re having special events throughout December to attract shoppers.

From December 1–4, the store will hold a jewelry trunk show, featuring the work of Byzantine-inspired Stephanie Albertson. Then December 8–11, it’s all about the jewels of Stella Flame, an artist influenced by antique Turkish motifs. From December 15–18, 24-karat gold jewelry from Hilat of Istanbul will be on view.

The shop will be open through February 2012 and, like any museum store, members get a 20% discount off purchases.

*Now, if NY museums would consider opening satellite locations in other states to show their art, that would be awesome!*
