NYSS is devoted to the lifelong study and practice of art.

Each semester begins with a two-week Drawing or Sculpture Marathon to immerse participants in experimentation, perception, and productivity. Students work in a shared studio environment the first two years as they advance & evolve, working closely with Faculty members, and attend drawing, painting, and sculpture classes, visiting artists’ critiques, and weekly and final critiques. In the third year, artists move into a private studio space to develop a body of work for the Certificate Completion Exhibition.
