# Open Studios, Parties, and Performances at Brooklyn’s Invisible Dog

In addition to hosting exhibitions and performances, Brooklyn’s beloved [Invisible Dog Art Center](http://theinvisibledog.org/?ref=hyperallergic.com) — so named because it’s housed in the building where the novelty “[invisible dog](https://improveverywhere.com/2009/10/04/invisible-dogs/?ref=hyperallergic.com)” toy was invented — is home to over two dozen artists’ studios. This week, May 2 to 7, marks the eighth annual [Invisible Dog Open Studios](http://theinvisibledog.org/open-studios-week/?ref=hyperallergic.com) event, with a full slate of events, performances, and installations in addition to the opportunity to visit 27 artists’ work spaces.

All week, artist [Anne Mourier](http://theinvisibledog.org/anne-mourier/?ref=hyperallergic.com) will hand-wash an item of white clothing supplied by any member of the public for her participatory performance *“*[Taking Care](http://theinvisibledog.org/taking-care-anne-mourier/?ref=hyperallergic.com).” Fellow resident artists [Kevin Waldron](http://theinvisibledog.org/papertear-by-kevin-waldron/?ref=hyperallergic.com) and [Shannon Finnegan](http://theinvisibledog.org/reinventing-my-strangeness-by-shannon-finnegan/?ref=hyperallergic.com) have created temporary installations out of torn and drawn-on paper, respectively, for the occasion. On the night of Friday, May 5, Waldron and Jon Burgerman will host [an evening](http://theinvisibledog.org/playtime-jon-burgerman-kevin-waldron/?ref=hyperallergic.com) of games and live projected doodles. The next day, resident artists Oliver Jeffers and Mac Premo will invite visitors to interact with their daylong participatory installation “[Kickable](http://theinvisibledog.org/kickable-by-oliver-jeffers-mac-premo/?ref=hyperallergic.com).”

But, of course, the main attractions will be the studios on the floors above, which will be open to the public all day Saturday, May 6, and Sunday, May 7\. Come see what artists as eclectic as found object sculptor [Chong Gon Byun](http://theinvisibledog.org/chong-gon-byun-2/?ref=hyperallergic.com), collagist [Kiya Kim](http://theinvisibledog.org/kiya-kim/?ref=hyperallergic.com), photo-conceptualist [Ryan Frank](http://theinvisibledog.org/ryan-frank/?ref=hyperallergic.com), and monochrome sculptor [Claudia Paneca](http://theinvisibledog.org/claudia-paneca/?ref=hyperallergic.com) have been up to.
