## **Residencies, Workshops, & Fellowships**

**Onassis AiR Residency Program 2026-27**  
Participants in Onassis AiR’s artistic research and residency program in Athens, Greece, receive an artist’s fee, a research budget, housing, round-trip travel, mentoring, and other resources to support their work. **The Image Centre – Research Fellowships: Photography**  
In 2026, five fellowships of $2,500–$10,000 (CAD) will support research projects on The Image Centre’s photography collections. Open to students, scholars, and artists.

**Interlude Artist Residency**  
Visual artists who are parents can apply for fully funded three-week residencies. Sessions include private studio space, family accommodations, studio visits, catered meals, and a stipend. *Hyperallergic*’s Editor-at-Large Hrag Vartanian is on this year’s jury. The application fee is $25.

**Textile Arts Center – Artist in Residence Cycle 18**  
Providing an opportunity to explore the textile medium, TAC AIR combines studio access in Brooklyn with a rigorous interdisciplinary curriculum and regular critical dialogue. Tuition is $11,000, the application fee is $35\. A scholarship is available.

**Tyler School of Art and Architecture – Edgar Heap of Birds Family Artist Residency**  
Open to artists whose work focuses on the history and lived experience of North American Indigenous people. Offered January–May 2027 at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture, artists receive a $3,500/month stipend.

## **Open Calls for Art & Writing**

**Discover Wauwatosa – ART 64**  
The nation’s largest live bracket-style painting tournament returns to Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, on June 5–6\. Apply to be one of 64 artists competing for a $20,000 grand prize. Winners are determined by audience voting. The application fee is $20.

**Green-Wood Cemetery – Merchandise Design Contest**  
Artists and designers of all ages can submit original work inspired by the historic Brooklyn cemetery for the chance to have their design become part of its inaugural merchandise collection. The selected artist will receive a $2,000 honorarium and more.

**Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences, New Jersey – Works on Paper**  
Artists based in the continental US who practice drawing, painting on paper, prints, photography, digital works on paper, and 2D paper constructions can apply to this competition and exhibition juried by Joanna Sheers Seidenstein, Curator in the Department of Drawings and Prints at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The application fee is $35 for up to three entries.

**Sow True Seed – 2026 Call to Artists**  
Each year, this worker-owned seed company commissions artists to design their seed packets and the cover of their annual catalog. US-based artists can submit work for consideration; those selected will receive $150–$1,000 and more.

**2026 DAG Visual Art Prize**  
The DAG Foundation is accepting applications for its annual $20,000 Visual Art Prize, which supports innovative, mid-career artists in the US as they explore new directions and build thriving, sustainable careers.

**Helen Frankenthaler Foundation – Frankenthaler Climate Initiative (FCI)**  
FCI provides grants of up to $100,000 to visual arts organizations pursuing energy efficiency and sustainable operations, with support for projects ranging from early planning through implementation. **Jonathan and Barbara Silver Foundation – 2026 Grant for Writing on Sculpture**  
The foundation will award one $20,000 grant to a writer who demonstrates a serious commitment to writing about sculpture, through fresh thinking on the history, aesthetics, purposes, imagination and/or situation of sculpture.

**Rubin Museum of Himalayan Art – Rubin Grants**  
The Rubin’s annual grant program funds research and art projects that aim to expand awareness and understanding of Himalayan art globally. Artists, creatives, and scholars are invited to submit a letter of inquiry for the 2026 cycle. **Wilmers Integrity Prize**

**New York City Economic Development Corporation – Operator for the Harlem African Burial Ground Cultural Education Center**  
NYCEDC seeks proposals from qualified parties to conceptualize and operate a cultural education center at the historic Harlem African Burial Ground in New York City, a site of deep significance for the city’s Black and Indigenous communities in East Harlem.
