When was the last time you saw a rich cluster of photography exhibitions in a pop-up village of shipping containers? If you were lucky, it was almost exactly a year ago at [Photoville](https://hyperallergic.com/tag/photoville/), which means it’s time for [the newest edition](http://photoville.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com) of the annual photography festival.

This year, the event’s organizers, [United Photo Industries](http://www.unitedphotoindustries.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com), have brought together some 70 partners — from the International Center of Photography and the Bronx Documentary Center to the Magnum Foundation and the Pulitzer Center — to curate [exhibitions in shipping containers](http://photoville.com/container-exhibitions/?ref=hyperallergic.com) beneath the Brooklyn Bridge. They include a project by photographer [Nichole Sobecki](http://photoville.com/climate-conflict/?ref=hyperallergic.com) documenting the impacts of climate change in Somalia, an exhibition of beach images by female photographers on the theme of [body positivity](http://photoville.com/body-talk/?ref=hyperallergic.com), a series in which Syrian photographer [Alaa Hassan](http://photoville.com/cardboard-castle/?ref=hyperallergic.com) attempts to convey the ubiquity of Bashar al-Assad’s image in Damascus, [multiple](http://photoville.com/finding-home/?ref=hyperallergic.com) [projects](http://photoville.com/isle-landers/?ref=hyperallergic.com) [about](http://photoville.com/journeys-immigration-stories/?ref=hyperallergic.com) the global refugee crisis, and much, much more.

Alongside the container exhibitions, Photoville boasts a plentiful lineup of [outdoor exhibitions](http://photoville.com/outdoor-exhibitions/?ref=hyperallergic.com), [nighttime screenings](http://photoville.com/nighttime-programming/?ref=hyperallergic.com), [workshops](http://photoville.com/hands-on-workshops/?ref=hyperallergic.com), [talks](http://photoville.com/photoville-talks-st-anns-warehouse-studio/?ref=hyperallergic.com), and other programming — plus [a bookstore](http://photoville.com/red-hook-editions-community-book-store-photoville/?ref=hyperallergic.com) run by Red Hook Editions. And, when you invariably run out of steam and need to recharge, the Smorgasburg market and Brooklyn Brewery beers await.
