# Prada Marfa Vandal Dodges Jail Time in Plea Deal

The man [arrested last March](https://hyperallergic.com/prada-marfa-vandalized-by-taggers/) on charges of having vandalized Elmgreen & Dragset’s simulated Prada storefront in Marfa, Texas has escaped jail time with a plea bargain, Glasstire [reported](http://glasstire.com/2014/11/12/prada-marfa-vandal-admits-guilt-agrees-to-pay-for-cleanup/?ref=hyperallergic.com). In pleading guilty to two counts of misdemeanor criminal mischief, defendant Joe Magnano also avoided a trial that was to begin next week in the 394th District Court of Jeff Davis County.

Magnano reportedly paid $10,700 in restitution to Ballroom Marfa, the nonprofit organization which commissioned and maintains the work, on top of a $1,000 fine. A query to Magnano, who [spoke to Hyperallergic](https://hyperallergic.com/prada-marfa-vandal-speaks/) about his actions last March, was directed to his attorney, William Johnston. Johnston was not immediately available for comment.
