Even behind bars, the Russian punk protest band and performance art group Pussy Riot have been far from quiet. They released a new single from prison called “Putin Lights Up the Fires” (sample lyrics include “The country is going into the streets boldly”) and yesterday, Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev said that he thinks the rockers have [served enough time](http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/13/world/europe/medvedev-says-jailed-pussy-riot-members-in-russia-should-be-freed.html?ref=hyperallergic.com) and should be released instead of following through with their two-year-long [prison colony sentences](https://hyperallergic.com/pussy-riot-is-sentenced-to-2-years-in-prison-for-hooliganism/).

Now, the City University of New York’s [Feminist Press](http://www.feministpress.org/books/pussy-riot/pussy-riot?ref=hyperallergic.com) has announced that they will [publish an e-book](http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/09/13/e-book-planned-on-embattled-russian-punk-group/?partner=rss&emc=rss&ref=hyperallergic.com) on the group entitled *Pussy Riot! A Punk Prayer for Freedom*, to be published in about two weeks, reports [*The New York Times*](http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/09/13/e-book-planned-on-embattled-russian-punk-group/?ref=hyperallergic.com).

The new book will feature letters from the band’s imprisoned members, legal statements by their defense attorneys, and notes of support from artists and poets like Yoko Ono and Eileen Myles. Fellow musicians Justin Vivian Bond and Le Tigre’s JD Samson have also contributed.

Proceeds from sales of the $2.99 e-book will go to Pussy Riot’s legal defense fund. The band members have already served six months of jail time, and the Kremlin doesn’t seem to be letting up, despite mounting international pressure.
