# Rijksmuseum to be World's First (Actually Second) National Museum Open Every Day

It has taken almost a decade, but on Saturday, April 13, 2013, the [Rijksmuseum](http://www.rijksmuseum.nl/?ref=hyperallergic.com) in Amsterdam will reopen after a massive renovation that includes a new Asian pavilion and a renovated garden.

The event will mean the museum’s world-renowned collection of Netherlandish painting, including Rembrandt’s seminal “[The Night Watch](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The%5FNight%5FWatch%5F%28painting%29?ref=hyperallergic.com)” (1642) and Vermeer’s “[The Milkmaid](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The%5FMilkmaid%5F%28Vermeer%29?ref=hyperallergic.com)” (c.1657–58), will be back on display, but that’s not the best part.

**The new Rijksmuseum will be the first second national museum in the world which will open 365 days of the year from 9am to 5pm each day.**

Museumgoers of the world rejoice!
