Our Saturday post, “[Who Do Benefit Auctions Really Benefit?](https://hyperallergic.com/who-do-benefit-auctions-really-benefit/),” has been generating a lot of discussion on the topic of charity art auctions and emerging artists. Last night, artist Steve Lambert shared [this comment](https://plus.google.com/u/0/100158637990771277168/posts/G2mFB2RGfGG?ref=hyperallergic.com) via Google+ about his response to benefits when he’s asked to donate a work:

> Here’s something I gave to a benefit once. The max price was $150/work in this case. \[*pictured above*\] This has become a sort of formula for when I get asked to donate work to an auction; I ask “how much do you want the work to be worth?” and then I make the drawing of that amount.

Pretty brilliant, if you ask me.
