The ever-expanding internet has made possible an incredible democratization of information, enabling anyone with a wi-fi connection the power to revise and rewrite history. The demographics of those contributing to digital databases, however, often reinforce traditional hierarchies, with only [16% of Wikipedia editors identifying as female](https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0065782&ref=hyperallergic.com) by some estimates. For the past six years, DIY campaign [Art+Feminism](http://www.artandfeminism.org/?ref=hyperallergic.com) has been holding Wikipedia edit-a-thons aimed at increasing the visibility and representation of women, nonbinary, and transgender people in the arts on the most widely used online reference site.

As part of its annual, global series of Wikipedia edit-a-thons, Art+Feminism, in conjunction with online art magazine *East of Borneo*, will be organizing [events every weekend in March](https://eastofborneo.org/artandfeminism/?ref=hyperallergic.com) at Southern California museums. The program kicks off this Sunday at the ICA LA, with an edit-a-thon focused on [women and comedy](https://www.theicala.org/en/events/116-art-feminism-wikipedia-workshop-edit-a-thon-women-in-comedy?ref=hyperallergic.com). All you need to bring is your laptop or tablet, and don’t worry if you’re a Wikipedia neophyte, *East of Borneo* Executive Editor Stacey Allen will be offering training sessions at noon and 3pm. Comedic performances from Michelle Tea, Atsuko Okatsuka and others will also provide a mid-afternoon break. Upcoming events will cover Latinx women and nonbinary artists at the [Vincent Price Art Museum](http://vincentpriceartmuseum.org/?ref=hyperallergic.com); women, film, and media at the [Hammer Museum](https://hammer.ucla.edu/programs-events/2019/03/art-feminism-wikipedia-edit-a-thon/?ref=hyperallergic.com); women, design, and craft at [LACMA](https://www.lacma.org/?ref=hyperallergic.com); and sessions dedicated to female artists in the permanent collections of the [MCA San Diego](https://www.mcasd.org/?ref=hyperallergic.com) and [California African American Museum](https://caamuseum.org/programs/talks-and-workshops/art-feminism-wikipedia-edit-a-thon?ref=hyperallergic.com).
