For the past three weekends, queer performance group the Family Room Collective — Todd Moellenberg, Sylke Rene-Meyer, and Matt Savitsky — have taken over the downtown art space Tiger Strikes Asteroid. Their installation, [*Paper* *Over*,](https://www.tigerstrikesasteroid.com/tagged/paperover?ref=hyperallergic.com) is an “experimental prototype towards unintentional storytelling, merging high and low tech with the human bodies,” they told Hyperallergic over email.

*Paper Over* includes a mini-theater, diorama, and a screening room, which the group uses to create spontaneous, immediate performances that incorporate newspaper clippings, video chats, and live action. Each Saturday, they create films inside the gallery and on the streets below, creating narratives based on texts and interactions with those they encounter, which are then projected in real time onto the gallery walls for visitors. With a dose of playful absurdity, the Family Room Collective channels the feedback loops and information overload that characterize our frenzied contemporary media landscape. This Saturday, they will present their fourth and final event, with two live film sessions at 3 and 7pm.

When: Saturday, May 11, 12–8pm
Where: Tiger Strikes Asteroid LA (Bendix Building, 1206 Maple Avenue, #523, Downtown, Los Angeles)
