# The First Edition of the Brooklyn Art Book Fair

Before the McCarren Park Pool is inundated with sweaty swimmers, stop by for the [Brooklyn Art Book Fair](https://www.bkabf.org/?ref=hyperallergic.com) on May 19–20\. This is, surprisingly, the fair’s first edition. Coproduced by the free art school [BHQFU](http://bhqfu.org/about.php?ref=hyperallergic.com) and the curatorial and publishing project [Endless Editions](http://www.endlesseditions.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com), the fair will feature 43exhibitors, including publishing houses, artists, and curatorial collectives. There’ll be plenty of local representation, like [Desert Island Comics](http://desertislandcomics.tumblr.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com), and in addition to perusing and purchasing artists’ books, you can also learn about the process of printing them at [Soft City](http://www.softcityprinting.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com#/about)’s booth. I’m especially curious to flip through CUNY’s [*Lost & Found*](http://centerforthehumanities.org/lost-and-found?ref=hyperallergic.com)journal, for which doctoral students research forgotten or overlooked texts by 20th-century writers.

There’s also a packed [performance schedule](https://www.bkabf.org/performance/?ref=hyperallergic.com) on both days, including puppetry by Memefrito and an evening of music and readings organized by Nashville’s [Third Man Books](http://natsaw.co/thirdmanshowcase?ref=hyperallergic.com).
