# Today Only: MoMA For Cheap

Most museums are too expensive to really be what we want them to be: public cultural resources open all the time, to everyone. The [Museum of Modern Art](http://www.moma.org/?ref=hyperallergic.com), at $20 per ticket for adults, is the target of a lot of complaints. But today, get $40 for $20 at MoMA [through Groupon](http://www.groupon.com/deals/museum-of-modern-art?c=all&p=0&ref=hyperallergic.com)! Now you’ll *totally* donate.

Find the offer on [Groupon’s website](http://www.groupon.com/deals/museum-of-modern-art?c=all&p=0&ref=hyperallergic.com). The offer stands for about 12 more hours, so get on it!

There are two options for the MoMA Groupon, which has already sold enough (over 1,000) to go through. For $20, buyers get two tickets to [MoMA Nights](http://gr.pn/e2MZPP?ref=hyperallergic.com), select Thursday evening events that feature concerts, readings, cash bars and gallery talks from 3 to 8:30 pm, plus a $20 credit towards an annual individual membership to the museum, usually $75\. For $25, buyers get two general admission tickets for any time, plus the membership credit. *Yes, it’s a little complicated.*

The MoMA Nights tickets expire August 25, 2011 while the any time deal expires August 31\. The evening events totally sound fun, but if you’d rather check out “[Starry Night](http://www.moma.org/collection/object.php?object%5Fid=79802&ref=hyperallergic.com)” (1889) in peace, I would get the any time tickets. - If you’re into cooking or design or both, [***Counter Space: Design and the Modern Kitchen***](http://www.moma.org/visit/calendar/exhibitions/1062?ref=hyperallergic.com) is up through May 2.
- For a Cubist blockbuster, check out [***Picasso: Guitars, 1912-1914***](http://www.moma.org/visit/calendar/exhibitions/1101?ref=hyperallergic.com). The show gathers together an early body of work from the artist and examines one of his most iconic symbols.
- Check out a double hit of graphic design and printmaking with [***German Expressionism: The Graphic Impulse***](http://www.moma.org/visit/calendar/exhibitions/1103?ref=hyperallergic.com) and [***Impressions from South Africa, 1965 to Now***](http://www.moma.org/visit/calendar/exhibitions/1154?ref=hyperallergic.com).

There are also some good-looking [exhibitions coming up](http://www.moma.org/explore/exhibitions/upcoming?ref=hyperallergic.com) before the Groupon’s expiration date, including a retrospective of the fascinating Belgian artist Francis Alÿs, who lives and works in Mexico City. [*Francis Alÿs: A Story of Deception*](http://www.moma.org/visit/calendar/exhibitions/1104?ref=hyperallergic.com) runs from May 8 to August 1 2011.

The MoMA Groupon deal is probably the most high profile of a string of museum deals recently featured on the website, including previous membership offers at the Brooklyn Museum and the San Diego Museum of Art.
