Carmageddon 2011 might chiefly be remembered as the big transportation nightmare that [wasn’t](http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-carmageddon-20110719,0,5035874.story?ref=hyperallergic.com): an accelerated work schedule, coupled with a couple million people in the Los Angeles area realizing they didn’t need to drive anywhere last weekend after all, meant that the anticipated citywide gridlock and marathon traffic jams never came to pass. Which is too bad, because we really like the idea of that little iPad-toting Franco-Flemish piggie at the [Getty Center](http://www.getty.edu/?ref=hyperallergic.com) getting the day off to roam around the museum and visit his fellow masterpieces.

(Yeah, we know the budget for this wasn’t quite on the same level as its [Hollywood](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0477347/?ref=hyperallergic.com) [antecedents](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1078912/?ref=hyperallergic.com). At least we know the Getty is spending that huge endowment on art.)
