What the hell is that [diamond-shaped object floating](http://www.examiner.com/ufo-in-national/new-york-photographer-unsure-what-diamond-shaped-object-is?ref=hyperallergic.com) in the lower Manhattan sky? A photographer hoping to get some nice images of the Freedom Tower shot this unidentified object from the New Museum’s Sky Room Terrace, according to [his testimony](http://mufoncms.com/cgi-bin/report%5Fhandler.pl?req=view%5Flong%5Fdesc&id=32025&rnd=&ref=hyperallergic.com) on a UFO site.

The art museum [tweeted](https://twitter.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com#!/newmuseum/status/118314603217297408) the Google Alert find today with a sense of humor and the rest of us are left scratching our heads. You’d think kind of these sightings would be more common in Marfa, Texas rather than New York.

The Examiner [points out](http://www.examiner.com/ufo-in-national/new-york-photographer-unsure-what-diamond-shaped-object-is?ref=hyperallergic.com):

> New York is a current UFO ALERT 3 rating, with a high number of UFO sightings nationally. New York had 46 reports in August 2011 — the 5th highest reporting state — while California had 127 UFO reports — the highest reporting state in the nation.
